Transparency

The current leadership team is comprised of three volunteers: Sofia Bottinelli, Jess Burnett and Laurel Klafehn. We will not receive financial compensation from the bond fund, and plan to operate the fund in a purely volunteer capacity until we are able to build the organization and hand it off to community members with lived experience with the immigration system. Sofia, Jess and Laurel share equal decision-making responsibilities - and decisions are made when at least 2 of the 3 agree. 

It is important to us that bond funds not be allocated on a merit basis. The only criteria we will take into account when considering one bond request against another is time sensitivity (for example, if a detained person has an imminent individual hearing) and whether or not we have funds available. All questions on the bond fund application are for the purpose of gathering vital information that we will need to pay a bond. 

As a non-profit organization, we aim to collect and issue funds in accordance with our values and our mission.

The sole expenses of the organization are: 
1. Paying bonds for people detained at the Aurora ICE Detention facility. 
2. Operating costs of the organization, including website domain subscriptions, fees associated with paying bonds, and translation of website materials. 
3. Mutual aid support of other bond funds when possible within our budget. 

We are grateful to be operating under the 501(c)(3) status of The HadaÑou Collective, our fiscal sponsor. Our 501(c)(3) application is pending with the IRS as of May 2023.
